Just Me.

REAL WOMEN

Most of my nights include the ambiant lighting of my computer screen and the company of my redbull, as I attempt to maintain my stellar GPA. Aside from this, I work two jobs and nurture my music career on the side. Oh, I also find time to read a book or two.

I agree with most of you reading this when you think sarcastically, “Wow… Steph sounds like a blast to hang out with.” lol

I know - it doesn’t seem too glamorous right now - but I’m a driven woman, determined to have “EVERYTHING” I want in life. So I’m willing to work hard to get to where I want to be. Key word here: WORK. And one day, in the near future, my daily life will be a lot more glamorous and exciting and adventurous. But, for now, it’s all about the grind.

As I sit here writing this, mentally exhausted from conducting in-depth research for a branding campaign, I get to thinking about our lazy, celebritized culture, and how many women decide to take a different path from mine to get what they want. In our desensitized society, men have tricked women into believing that sleeping with them to get “what you want” or to get “where you want” equates to having a one-up on them. A lot of women, have lost complete respect for themselves; trading their bodies for a new Gucci bag, vacation or a seat next to a man of power, at a public event. Apparently they’ve given up on themselves, and have lost their sense of self-worth. Apparently, their bodies have a pricetag, some more expensive than others, i.e. Gucci bags VS status.

Sadly, this is becoming the norm.

You can dumb it down and call it a hustle or dumb yourself down and say you ‘respect it.’ But my stance will always be one of dignity, morality and pride. My body is worth much more than the most expensive gifts in world. And no material thing will ever define who I am - or - my place of ‘value’ in this world. And no man will ever be allowed to buy me and then procede to own me.

As a woman, do I realize how easy it would be to go down the same road? Yes, of course I’m aware of it. In fact, I’ve had offers. But crossing the finish line and accomplishing success in my life on my own terms with my own blood, sweat and tears is far sweeter than what any man could offer me. And in the end, no matter how much you recieve from a man materialistically - you will still be devoid of real happiness and contentment, if you lose your own identity, respect and dignity in the process.

My inner circle is now being built up with like-minded women, who work hard - chasing the light at the end of the tunnel… I have no sympathy, time, breath or compassion for women who choose to sell themselves out for perks or progress. It’s unattractive, sad and disheartening to witness - let alone, support.

(Raising Glass)…

So here’s to all the women who bust their asses every day to make something of themselves - the right way - and look good doing it! ^_^

XOXOXO

Steph
